Accounts, usage and storage
When you register, we store the information you provide, such as your email address and display name. Passwords are stored as hashes, not readable text. We also store membership dates, security events and your monthly credit balance.
Preferences, progress and study data may be stored in your browser. When you sync your account, the relevant learning data and progress are also stored on the server. Local data on a shared device can remain after signing out; you can clear it through the site or browser settings.
AI assistance and images
Chat, feedback and answer checking may send the text you enter and lesson context to AI providers, including OpenAI and TypeSafe. Handwriting and keyboard photo recognition may send the relevant image to OpenAI. Some checks run on your device without an external request.
Providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies, potentially in other countries. Avoid including sensitive information that is not needed for learning. Service usage is recorded to account for credits and prevent misuse.
Study Buddy and shared lessons
We store language pairs, availability, time zones, matching requests and session details to coordinate learning. Our team can review matching requests to find a suitable partner. A partner sees your display name and shared learning and scheduling details.
A session shares lesson and practice actions according to the mode you choose. Answers and shared progress may be recorded for both participants. Personal settings and activity outside the session are not shared.
Six-digit connection codes expire after five minutes. A personal QR invitation lasts one year and can be revoked and replaced. A person with the code or link can connect directly while you are available; share it only with someone you want to study with.
Video, microphone and connectivity
Video calls require browser camera and microphone permissions. You can turn them off or end the call. LangFlame does not record calls by default.
Calls use WebRTC: media travels directly between participants or through a relay server, depending on network conditions. Connection information such as your IP address may be visible to your partner or connectivity providers. Do not record or share a call without everyone’s consent.
Cookies and infrastructure
Browser storage and essential cookies support sign-in, preferences and learning. Hosting, email and connectivity providers process the information needed to deliver the service. External links and services also have their own policies.
Account information is kept while needed to operate the account. Security records, support messages and backups may be retained for the period needed to protect the service and meet applicable obligations.
Optional analytics and session replay
Only with your permission, Google Analytics 4 and PostHog collect pages viewed, visit times, traffic sources, device type and approximate location based on IP address. Cookies and browser storage help recognize repeat visits. Signed-in activity can be linked to an internal account ID; we do not send names, email addresses or written answers as event data.
PostHog session replay requires a separate choice and lets us review navigation and clicks. Input fields and personal areas are masked in replay; it does not record video calls, audio or camera images. These providers process information under their own policies, potentially in other countries.
Both options stay off until you choose them and neither is required to learn. Change or withdraw permission through “Privacy preferences” at the bottom of the site. Withdrawal stops future collection but does not delete information already sent; contact privacy@langflame.com to request deletion. Your choice is saved in this browser.
Your choices
You can manage your details and request data export or deletion in your account. To remove local data, also clear browser storage on each device. Send additional privacy requests to privacy@langflame.com.
You may request access, correction or deletion, or ask about objecting to processing. We respond according to the circumstances and applicable law. Children should use the service with parental or guardian involvement and consent as required for their age and jurisdiction.
We may update this policy as the service develops. Material changes will be shown on the site or communicated through your account details.
